MT500 Jacket frontE9117BK_back_lg

Pete our shop rider has been testing out the Endura MT500 Waterproof Jacket….

A multiple award-winning product, the men’s MT500 waterproof cycling jacket been the undisputed go-to garment for pro riders like Danny MacAskill as well as your trail centre weekend warrior. It has earned legendary status in the mountain bike scene for its endurance and waterproofing.

This cycling jacket deploys ExoShell60™ 3-Layer waterproof fabric which boasts a monster 60,000 gm/m2/24hr breathability as well as being powerfully waterproof. Not only that, but it is environmentally friendly, containing no PFC’s.

Nothing has been left to chance on this product. The jacket incorporates stretch panelling where you need it most for ease of movement, while backpack compatible venting ensures that airflow around the body isn’t compromised by wearing a pack. All zippers are YKK and highly rain-resistant, and the lift pass pocket in the sleeve adds to the jackets versatility.

It was a cold and wet day up on the moors in Blanchland, time to put on the MT500 waterproof! It performed outstandingly in the hail & snow.

Paired with my Megmeister Drynamo base layer I was warm and dry. After several thousand feet of climbing the jacket ventilated really well and I was still warm and dry!

It’s a great fit – a good compromise between snug yet big enough to get a layer or two underneath – the stretchiness of the fabric adding a lot to this. The sleeves pulled up – no bother – they also rode comfortably over trail pads. Again, the stretch in the fabric meant it didn’t ride up no matter how stretched the riding position.

The hood is awesome – big enough to swallow a helmet – with plenty of adjustment and a useful tab to roll it away when it isn’t needed. It also has a great peak. It has great pitzips that are easy to undo and do up – even more so if you’re using the thumb loops, which then hold the sleeves in position as you do it. It also has good venting pockets, which help spill heat and also contain a glasses/goggles wipe.

This is one jacket that you know is going to cut it when things get nasty…

Infinity Cycles in Durham has this awesome jacket in stock.
